Tancredo Neves International Airport

Tancredo Neves/Confins International Airport (IATA: CNF), popularly known as Confins International Airport, is located in the metropolitan area of Belo Horizonte, in the municipality of Confins. The name honors the memory of former President Tancredo Neves.It is currently the largest and busiest airport in the state of Minas Gerais. It is deemed to be one of the finest and best equipped in Latin America.

It used to be under-utilized and was among Brazil's least used airports because Belo Horizonte also has an airport closer to downtown, Belo Horizonte/Pampulha - Carlos Drummond de Andrade Airport. Since 2005 however, most of the flights to and from Pampulha were transferred to Confins International Airport.

In 2009, the airport handled 5,617,171 passengers and 70,122 aircraft movements, making it the 6th busiest airport in Brazil in terms of passengers.

On 31 August 2009, Infraero unveiled a BRL342.3 million (USD180.3 million; EUR126.4 million) investiment plan to up-grade Tancredo Neves International Airport focusing on the preparations for the 2014 FIFA World Cup which will be held in Brazil, Belo Horizonte being one of the venue cities.
