France has around 200 airports for civil use, of which the most well known is surely Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris which is second only to Heathrow in Europe for volume of passenger movements. Other major french airports are located in Bordeaux and Biarritz, giving access to the charming southwest France, and in Lyon, where Lyon Saint-Exupery is ideally located for those who wish to visit the Alps. For sunseekers, Nice and Marseilles on the mediterranean coast both have large airports. Like most EU countries, no visas are required for EU citizens but may be necessary for others.
