New Zealand's seven international airports and network of domestic airports makes travelling to and around the 3 main islands of this 'Land of the Long White Cloud' easy. Over 2.5 million people fly into New Zealand each year, and with Auckland as the main gateway to the country and the North Island and Christchurch as the gateway to the south, domestic transfers can take you to places as small as Stewart Island in the south and Kaitaia in the north. The country's largest airport, Auckland International, has been voted into the top ten airports several times and as such, visitors to New Zealand can expect a pleasant airport experience. Travellers should be aware of quite strict customs restrictions on International flights into New Zealand which help to keep it a clean and green country! For visitors from many countries, visas are not required for stays under 3 months. Information on immigration can be found at www.immigration.govt.nz
