Vigo Airport (IATA: VGO) is 8 km (5.0 mi) east from the center of Vigo, and is situated in the municipalities of Redondela, Vigo and Mos, Spain.
In order to adapt Vigo airport to future air traffic demands, Aena is planning an airport expansion project to provide infrastructure and facilities to improve the quality and safety of aircraft and passenger services. It also includes an expansion and total refurbishment of the current terminal building, which will grow from a surface area of 8,700 square meters to approximately 26,000 metres, giving it the capacity to handle four million users per year.
In 2009, Vigo airport recorded 1,103,285 passengers, 15,698 aircraft movements and 796 tonnes of cargo.
